THE INDUSTRY
“The Industry” is a raw, emotional track co-written with UK-based producer Harry Scutt, born out of the unseen struggles within the music world. With lyrics like "working on my knees to be, waiting for the call from the top of the tree", the song offers a vulnerable glimpse into the sacrifices made by artists, engineers, lawyers, and all those who operate behind the scenes. It's a dedication to the resilience required in the industry—where years of hard work often go unnoticed.
The track is also a heartfelt tribute to Jamiliee’s late mentor, Jarrritt Sheel, a beloved jazz musician and educator who passed away in 2022. His belief in her and his guidance deeply shaped her artistic journey, and “The Industry” carries his spirit forward as both a remembrance and a rallying cry.
One of the pivotal moments came when she was featured on the YouTube playlist Arab Abroad — a hub for showcasing diasporic Arab talent around the world. The playlist connected her sound with a wider Middle Eastern and Levantine audience, affirming her identity as a Syrian-Mexican-American artist crafting globally resonant music. This recognition not only helped expand her listener base, but solidified her presence as a rising voice in the Arab alternative-pop space.
